There are hundreds, rather thousands of fans of the Tour who wake up early to find the perfect spot along the course and even more that are tuned into their television sets around the world feeling the spirit of the race. Every one of them feels the energy and passion surrounding this historic event to a degree that they honestly, in turn, contribute to the strength and solidarity of its culture. However, the draw that so many feel towards the Tour, knowingly to die-hard fans, comes from those who truly and traditionally build its way of life.

Like all great civilizations or societies throughout history, there have been certain leaders or pioneers of the times, who not only trail-blazed, but also helped establish a certain 'Code of Laws (and Respect)' for the sanctuary and livelihood of their nation. Still today such pioneers still exist and greatly bestow the traditions as they uniquely live among their society. Although we have profiled only three of such prominent figure living within the foundational community of the Tour, let it be known that there are several other worthy comparable contributors to this great culture.

  2. Tiresome travel. No Sleep. Waiting for hours. And one wonderful moment of pure happiness!

All the Tour fans who were travelling with the peloton are probably back at their homes right now. They quickly forgot all the discomfort they went through. Only the good memories remain.

Living in a crampy caravan, getting energy from junk food, catching a few moments of sleep somewhere by the road? That's what a true Tour fan will do without any hesitation. He (or she) also will spend hours by writing his messages on blacktop and by partying with the other fans, no matter which country they are from.

Then a moment of tension comes. The peloton is here! The fan shouts and screams and dances. But the ecstasy is short. In a few minutes, the riders pass by. Was it worth it? You bet it was!

  3. Where better to start our series on Bike Friendly Cities than in Copenhagen - a city with over 215 miles of bike paths that was declared the world's best city for cycling a few years ago?

We talked with everyone who is anyone in the world of cycling, starting with urban mobility expert Mikael Colville-Andersen, who advises cities across the planet and Morten Kabell, head of Copenhagen's Technical and Environmental Administration. We even found the beautiful lady who ferries sperm samples to fertility clinics around Copenhagen on a sperm-shaped cargo-bike.

And of course we could not leave out the friendly wizards from the bike repair shops. For a number of days we researched whether Copenhagen really is paradise on Earth for cyclists. You can find the answer in our report.

  4. A love for cycling is stronger than any injury. This video will show you that the handicapped riders can participate in any adrenaline sports!

Michal Kosik sacrificed everything to mountain biking. He used to spend almost every day in the saddle of his bike. But after a serious accident five years ago he was sentenced to remain seated for the rest of his life. His spinal cord will probably never heal.
But Michal is an athlete. And the true athletes never give up. He decided to build his own off-road quad and get back on the wheels. Then, thanks to the support by SKODA, he teamed up with famous freerider Richard Gasperotti. Together they travelled to the French province of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence to ride the steep slopes once again.
Michal's quad is quite remarkable and it can give hope to many other handicapped men and women all around the world. A hope they will get back on wheels, too!
