This still movie is a late reflection of my work with Krishna Sigfried Beutel in our loose project we called "The Barbarian Border Tribes".
Some of you will maybe know to what issues this name points to.
Krishna brought his huge collection of tibetan bells to my place and we did 2003 a few recording sessions arrangeing the bells in interesting groups, soundwise.
The atmosphere was very dense (though not tense) and concentrated and we felt strongly the impending Irak war ...
This video certainly conveys a bit of this atmosphere.
At the same time we can't help but think of the celestial spheres that were construed by the Old, when we hear the tibetan bells (or bowls, as some call them), so we found names of distant stars and named the tunes of our production after them, adding the distance from our solar system to them in the name.
So this tune is dedicated to Menkalinan that is 82 light years from here and has certain interesting properties.
The whole project was never released in any official way other than as demo cd's. It was titled "Space Flow".
The stills were shot by Robert Jaroslawski during a thunderstorm beatifully unfolding over the Schönberg as viewed from Sölden near Freiburg.
