The animated shortfilm “The Tale Of Mr. Rêvus” is my (Marius Herzog) graduation (Diploma) film, produced at the Georg-Simon-Ohm Hochschule – University Of Applied Sciences, Nuremberg.
The challenge of this movie was to reproduce the entire production process of an animated 3D shortfilm by myself including story development, concept design, modelling, rigging, directing, editing, animating, rendering and finally compositing (see credits).
The amazing score orchestrated by Simon Scharf student at the Hochschule für Musik Nuremberg (HfM) has been conducted by Guido Johannes Rumstadt, played by the orchestra of the HfM and recorded by Toni Hinterholzinger.
Special thanks to all the kind people who supported me in a very tough time especially my beloved family, Prof. Jürgen Schopper and Tobias Wiesner. This movie wouldn´t exist without you...
Besides the actual technical and creative production the story turned into a very personal metaphor.
Thanks for watching!

In this steampunk styled short film, created in our second year of school, a girl loses the ball she's playing with and it ends up on the street. Her father tries to get it back for her, but then something brutal happens. The girl, full of tears, doesn't know what to think when a monstrous creature appears and seems to be after her and her father.
Consurgo is latin for 'to arise' and blends perfectly with the story. This sad story picks up halfway to something incredibly fantastic.
Hominid is an animated teaser based on the Hominid series of photo composites by Brian Andrews. The series has been exhibited internationally, including at SIGGRAPH, in the Hong Kong Exhibition Center, and at numerous galleries. This animated teaser was produced at Ex’pression College for Digital Arts. Be on the lookout for future Hominid animations.
This is a creature I designed for a commercial I had been working on when I was in Rome, actually this was an early design that was dismissed because the client wanted a more cartoony appealing dragon. But since I fell in love with its shape I decided to carry on working on it by myself, during the spare time. I did everything from the concept to the final output.
