CYCLE OF LIFE

That odd pair of wheels that most Dutch use almost daily, to get from one place to the next.
These Cycle Clips look at bikes from a different perspective. They look at what it does to us when we sit on it. What the bicycle means to our lives.
The bicycle as a companion. The bicycle as a mirror to our soul.

My first clips were shot in Amsterdam, portaying my fellow urban dwellers.
Commuting on their city bikes like nowhere else in the world.
One whole year, twice a week, I kept a bicycle diary crossing the city centre.
Monday going to work – Friday back home.
Filming that Amsterdam inner city rat race.
The camera encapsules time and space, while cycling people pass in thought.
Capturing brief moments in time. Until they pedal away on their iron horse.

Soon other cyclists will follow. People that go keep a bicycle diary.
Each making their 'Cycle of Life' stories, about their relation with their bike.

I want to thank all people who unwittingly have contributed to this clip.
