General Motors Advanced Design Studio chose Autofuss to design the driver console and touch screen UI for the release of their Cadillac concept car, the Elmiraj. Our goal was to create an experience that utilized a multitude of future driving technologies while still maintaining the elegance and luxury of the Cadillac brand. Conor Greeble and Bradley Munkowitz set the framework with the main elements of the driver console interface, and Joseph Chanimal laid out the touch screen template, I designed and animated the navigational maps for both screens. Conor was also responsible for the edit of this sexy smooth animation reel.

Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, whose company KGID (Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design) resides in Munich, is not only one of the most influential German designers today but also a decent man and thereby pretty much the complete opposite of your average narcissistic designer/artist. After an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker, he studied at the Royal College of Art in London as Jasper Morrison's assistant. Bavarian born Grcic prefers to stand back behind his work and choses serial (i.e. industrial) designs over limited edition exclusivity. And although his work speaks for itself and the fact that due to a flu he nearly had lost his voice when we met him in Milan, he was kind enough to answer our questions patiently and accurately. In Milan he presented two different projects, the Myto chair which he developed for Plank as well as a 'seating element for public spaces' named Landen for Vitra.

'Graphic Wonderland' celebrates the power of the poster and the publicity pioneers of the golden age. It helps fill a documentary void on the significance of vintage design to art and cultural history and the shaping of national identity. Set in New Zealand, with international relevance and parallels, 'Graphic Wonderland' blends professional contemporary production, including digital silkscreening, with nostalgic charm. The infectious passion of the featured design pioneers is also a lesson in loving life, showcasing the deep (but often illusive) rewards of vocational alchemy. For those keen to dig deeper, 'Graphic Wonderland' builds on two lavish publications on vintage commercial art, sellingthedream.co.nz and promotingprosperity.co.nz. These posters are more than just advertising; they make people dream.
