The Global Warming Express is a climate change advocacy organization created by kids for kids. It was founded by two nine-year-old girls in Santa Fe, New Mexico, after they learned about climate change and endangered species in third grade. One girl, Marina Weber, wrote a book about global warming to send to President Obama, and she enlisted the help of her classmate, Joanna Whysner, to illustrate it. The book will be published this year.
In the two years since its inception, The Global Warming Express has become a fast-growing movement. Marina and Joanna created the GWE Club as an after school club at Acequia Madre Elementary School. Plans are in the works to expand the GWE club to as many as eleven other schools in Santa Fe and surrounding communities for the 2014-2015 school year.
