1. Providence Academy

    Football - Running Back

Providence Academy’s 5-0 record and dominance over opponents has been in large part due to standout running back and linebacker, Ryan Richelsen. In his 5 games, the senior captain has racked up 14 touchdowns (tied for first in the state) and 693 yards rushing (7.5 yards per carry). Also a starter at the linebacker position, Ryan has recorded 34 tackles and has played a big role on a defense that has only allowed 32 points all season. The All-Section football player, who is a two-time All-Conference selection in track and field, also received the ExCEL award from the MSHSL last year which recognizes Minnesota juniors for excellence in community, education, and leadership. A member of National Honor Society and on the Headmaster’s List, Ryan has also finds time to volunteer. Last year, Ryan raised funds to build homes for those less fortunate through Pervian Partners and the Huts to Homes program. In addition, Ryan donates his time at his local church and recently went on a mission trip to an orphanage in Mexico. Head coach Derek Asche says, “Ryan is a one-of-a-kind representative of Lions football and Providence Academy. His unique combination of on-field and off-field contributions makes him the best representative of our community that I could ask for. He approaches life with class and never forgets his priorities and the important things in life: faith, family, and friends.”
