  4. Bissel Gardens is 5 city blocks long of land that was filled with junk cars, drug activities, garbage, etc.... then it was taken over by concerned residents and is now a thriving group of organic gardens growing organic fruits to vegetables.
The food grown is used by community residents, sold at farmers markets, supplying homeless shelters fresh and healthy foods.

A team of artists working with The Laundromat Project’s Create Change Fellowship program, working on how to use the arts to creatively support social justice and community efforts. Through this fellowship we are working in Hunts Point with the Kelley Street Garden towards a Field Day project, which will be a public arts and social justice event on September 20th, 2014.

Field Day is an annual festival showcasing the rich spectrum of local arts and culture in Bed-Stuy, Harlem, and Hunts Point on September 20th & Sept 21st, 2014

Co-sponsored by The Laundromat Project & Kelly Street Garden
Hunts Point Field Day at Kelly Street Garden is a day to celebrate the Kelly Street community and the bounty of the Kelly Street Garden. The day will include free interactive arts workshops, community sculpture and piñata making, garden tours, yoga and movement workshops, healthy cooking demonstrations, a 'pop-up' living room and story circle, photography and a multi-media installation chronicling Kelly Street and Hunts Point's past and present, and a visit from the Blk Projek mobile market and other community organizations.

All events will take place at the Kelly Street Garden.
924 Kelly Street, Bronx NY
