Pride of Indiana is an exploration of community, identity, and prejudice, as seen through the lens of one small Indiana town. This mockumentary follows recently-out Hollywood star Samuel Hicks (Emerson Gregori) as he returns home to the small town of Brooks, Indiana. With the help of documentary filmmaker Ted Lucas (Ted Coonradt), Samuel believes he can use his fame to bring attention to Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act and change the minds of those in power.
The plan goes awry when they face unexpected opposition from some of the town’s residents, including pillars of the community Abigail (Allison Lobel) and Albert (Taurean Cavins-Flores) Rodriguez, who join forces with the reluctant Lawrence Berry (Matt Jennings) and David Martin (Levi Austin Morris), “roommates” of seven years, to try and drive Samuel out of town.
Meanwhile, local business owners Lord (Romel De Silva) and Jessica (Ashley DeMatteo) Gayagay unintentionally throw their lot in with Samuel when a “guys’ night” at their restaurant begins attracting a different crowd than they’d anticipated. Furious, Abigail organizes a fundraiser to raise money for pro-RFRA businesses, which culminates in an all-out, no-holds-barred pie fight between the two factions.
The mockumentary format allows Pride of Indiana to tell its uniquely satirical story with a focus on both the real issues in Indiana and on the film’s "too-true-to-be-real" characters. While the law may be amended, one thing’s for sure: this small town will never be the same!

Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood........
I wrote this script over a year and a half ago when I was filming sketches regularly with a comedy group. We never got around to filming it. It's sad to me that over a year later this story is still so relevant. So...with my own production company I filmed it.
Filmed entirely on an iPhone 4S, using filmic pro app, Action Life Media's mCamLite, EnCinema SLR Adapter, and a 50 mm Canon lens. Edited using iMovie.
Music is creative commons attribution 3.0 written by Kevin MacLeod.
ShortShorts is a production company creating short films that challenge, amuse, or inspire.
We are currently looking to raise funds to improve upon our equipment. All of our films have been shot on iPhones using FilMic Pro and there are various lenses and other equipment we can use to improve upon our production value while still using iPhones as our main filming tool.
We hope you will consider visiting our Indiegogo campaign and maybe leaving a few dollars to help us on our journey. Thanks so much.
