JAMIE WEI HUANG
Spring Summer 2015 – ‘Metaphysics’
JAMIE WEI HUANG’s SS15 collection is inspired on a basic idea of the human existence within urban society. The designs were drawn from the original metaphysic meaning, an explanation of the fundamental nature of being and the world which encompasses it.
Jamie’s curiosity in the way fashion is translated through the inner character of an individual truly brought the collection to life.
This season continues to uphold the labels essential components, its remarkable quality tailoring and simplistic refined outlines. This hybrid combination of casual elements alongside high end sartorial designs expresses supreme urban existence.
SS15 collection takes the fundamentals of a variety of sporting uniform and equipment varying from bicycle bags, skiwear and basketball shorts. A fascinating contrast when combined with elements that are inspired from industry professions such as the ‘London banker’. A triumphant mix of elements which also contrast each other are shown through an unusual composition of materials and accessories. The use of extremely refined silk jacquard and delicate leather expresses the idea of contrasting casual silhouettes, alongside clean cuts with delicate Napa and Toscana sheep skin and metal rings.
‘SS15 is a form of expressing the character in the language that is built by the element of a real individual.’
The Metaphysics collection was created to be worn for everyone and anyone.
Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece ‘Sunflowers,' Shao Yen's Spring Summer 2015 collection, Canvas, explores the subtle elements of the artwork, the raw touch of the brush strokes on canvas and the textures of the wooden frame. A distinct tie-dye technique is also adopted to create a more abstract and graphic representation of the flower on leather, silk and cotton. Vibrant shades of brown, yellow, nude, white, and a hint of blue echo the passion of the painting. The collection is completed with paint brush inspired earrings and accessories in collaboration with jewellery designer Niza Huang.
