This is the 2nd annual Peter L. Lee Endowed Lecture with Special Guest Professor Robin Yates. Dr. Yates is the James McGill Professor of East Asian Studies at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Trained at Oxford, UC Berkeley and Harvard University, he also is a frequent on-camera expert for numerous television documentaries on Chinese history for the BBC, History Channel, PBS-NOVA and more.
The Center for the Study of Sport and Exercise joined forces with the men’s soccer program to use state-of-the-art technology to improve player performance, coaching, and training. Gathering data in real time, not just in the center’s Human Performance Lab, provides students in the degree program, the student athletes, and the coaches with information typically available only in professional sports.

Social Work Professor Amelia Seraphia Derr was asked to facilitate a special program that brings together Seattle police officers and refugee women to build trust, strengthen public safety, and eliminate barriers to accessing services. Today, she prepares her students to take their classroom skills into the community, and to not just be social workers, but to be social-justice workers.
