The truly inspiring story of Talan Skeels Piggins. A testament to the inner courage and strength of the human soul. Talan was paralysed in 2003 when a car side-swiped him and he ploughed his motorbike head-on into traffic. He was told he had just a 30 percent chance of survival and would never walk again if he lived. Today he continues to strap himself to a motorbike and take on able bodied competitors at one of the most dangerous sports on the planet.
I had the pleasure of tagging along with Ian Ruhter for a day in Los Angeles as he started the long journey for his "Silver & Light" project. He managed to turn a truck into one giant wet plate camera in hopes of driving it around America shooting the people & landscapes he comes across. To see more of his images and learn more about this project follow his Tumblr: http://ianruhter.tumblr.com/ or his Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ian-Ruhter-Photography/159583283699
All filmed on a point n' shoot Panasonic Lumix GF1
My greatest failure in life came when I lost the ability to believe in my own dreams. It had taken a year and a half to return to Yosemite after enduring one of my most heartbreaking experiences. In an unexpected twist of fate I regained the courage to try again after seeing the world through a child’s eyes. Since the release of the Silver & Light film we have accomplished more than we ever thought possible. We could have never made it this far without the support of people like you.
