  2. Sultan Mizan Mosque (popularly known as the "Steel Mosque"

Motion time lapse using prototype KAMs X-Slide Timelapse Motion System
    Load : Sony a6000 + Samyang 12mm
Incline Angle : 30 degree (approx)
    Direction : climb
    Slider length : 1 meter
Actual slide distance : 82 cm
    Slide duration : 75 minutes

Note : there is an obvious jump in the clip, not because of the bump in slider but due to the camera turned off (battery went dead) and by the time i changed the battery, the camera had moved quite a distance.

Another test of the digital motion control system. It is so easy to use, choose among the four presets (1m right, 1m left, 2m right and 2m left) or customize your start and end point. After selecting the preset that you want to use, the system will prompt you to move the camera to the start position i.e the end of the slider (and in case of customised setting, the system will prompt you to set the end position as well) then key in the desired shooting duration. In my case, the sony timelapse apps display the total shooting time. For other camera that doesn't have that feature, just use the formula of (number of shots x interval)/60 eg 300 shots x 5 sec / 60 = 25 minutes.

Press select and let the system takes precise control of the motor speed!

I am currently working on controlling the system using phone apps, less physical button means smaller console, plus better display in the apps GUI for that extra "wow" .

    Stay tuned for more updates!

  3. Sunset Timelapse at Sultan Mizan Mosque

    KAMs X-Slide Timelapse Motion System
    Load : Sony A7R + Samyang 14mm
Load weight (approx) 936++ gram (excluding weight of motor and carrier itself)
    Incline Angle : 16 degree
    Direction : climb
    Slider length : 1 meter
Actual slide distance : 82 cm
    Slide duration : 1h 4 minutes

With this new motion control program, all the user need to do is input the shooting/slide duration and the controller will automatically calculate the correct speed to perform one meter slide in the specified time.
The final prototype will have multiple preset settings for various length and direction as well as a custom setting enabling the user to specify exact start and end point.

  4. Testing my own design motion slider for timelapse.

  5. Darul Quran, Kuala Kubu Baru

    KAMs X-Slide Timelapse Motion System
    Load : Sony a6000 + Samyang 12mm
    Incline Angle : 50 degree
    Direction : climb
    Slider length : 1 meter
Actual slide distance : 82 cm
    Slide duration : 55 minutes

AlhamduliLlah another test went successfully. Beautiful and serene sunrise at Jakim's Darul Quran.

As expected the motion control software works purrrfectly. Initially seeing the wet grass i was a bit anxious as the boards and wirings were still exposed (haven't picked up the enclosure from 3D printer yet). Also we were struggling with the tripod leg(s) that refused to extend fully, adapter screw that can't be screwed out, and tripod plate that somehow didn't fit the ball head despite it being the standard size plate. Huh!

With the beautiful blue hour fleeting past, it was a rushed setup. Thankfully after the initial struggle, everything went well.

The logic engine for the motion system is complete. As we are going wireless, I'm rewriting the relevant part of the code to adapt to the bluetooth. All controls will be from the handphone, ditto for the information display. Ultimately we can miniaturise the control console for more compact and sleek form factor, insyaAllah.

    Stay tuned for further updates!
