Our butterfly bush (Asclepias curassavica, a.k.a. Mexican Butterfly Weed) is a butterfly magnet, with Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) frequently laying eggs under the leaves and dozens of caterpillars gorging themselves on their milkweed diet. This is my first attempt at putting my time lapse skills to the test to document the Monarch life cycle. Special acknowledgement goes to the perfect song for this project - Mr. R's Butterfly Metamorphosis Song (used with his kind permission). This video was originally uploaded on YouTube on 3/15/2014.
