Inspired by existentialist angst of the penguin in Werner Herzog's 'Encounters At The End Of The World', I wrote a song.
Look out boys and look out girls
This is no cutie flightless bird
For the thoughts inside this penguins mind
Are blacker than coal
He's read Niezche's 'God is Dead'
Now darkness is his only friend
And the desolate Antarctic tundra
Is a reflection of his soul.
He is a Nihilist Penguin
And he's heading off into the abyss
The taste of fish no longer sweet
This bird despises Happy Feet
For there are no earthly pleasures
In the relentless, uncaring void.
This adventure will not end will
Nor in either heaven or hell
Just spiritual evisceration
In confrontation with the absurd.
He is a nihilist penguin
And he's heading off into the abyss.
