1. This was created from video shot at OneSpark in Jacksonville in 2014. I've continued to innovate and the piece is radically different in 2015.

If you like this, go check out my other piece Ol' Fence. It is in an online art competition at the Jacksonville PBS station, WJCT. Please give it a vote (voting ends April 30, 2015) Super easy, no registration, just scroll down and click on the green thumb. http://www.wjct.org/ol-fence-by-ron-schroer/

  2. Thinking about how to incorporate my many Florida experiences and wanting to use materials at hand, I realized how integral to the southern image is fencing- weathered wood, rolling and undulating, almost alive with personality- and thus was born Ol’ Fence- folk art meets process control. Ol’ Fence has 30 individual motions that can be combined for a wide range of actions. His ‘speech’ is created live with a talking drum, bowed and struck.

  4. Another wooden mechanism. I made this one out of poplar wood and it contains no metal, nails, or screws. It took two weekends and a little planning to complete.
