Don’t Shoot The Messenger was made by a group of renowned Dutch filmmakers: Aliona van der Horst, (Waterchildren, Boris Ryzhy), , Suzanne Raes (The Rainbow Warriors of Waiheke Island, The Houses of Hristina), Hens van Rooy (Portrait of Natasha, Piece of Mind), Sanne Rovers (Wild Lily, De Dwarsligger), Yan Ting Yuen (Chin. Ind., Dinner with Murakami) together with producer Fabie Hulsebos and editor Mario Steenbergen.
They found each other filming at the beginning of the Occupycamp in Amsterdam and decided to join forces to report on events that felt so urgent. As history learns, the occupation ended a couple of months later. The filmmakers decided on following some of the Occupyers and interview them in retrospect. The result is a unique document by a group of filmmakers on an event in history that deserves to be remembered and to be learned from.
