1. May 31, 2014, Dancespace Project, New York
    Solo performance in the frame of the platform 2014 Diary of an Image, curated by DD Dorvillier

    I listen to tracks different to the music you hear;
    two different universes, of sounds and gazes, coexist but they are never shared.
    On this threshold, I dance, trying to hold everything together.
    I become a stuttering body, an insisting body, a graphic body, a precise body, a control-freak body, a selfrestricted body, a desirous body, a lonely body; a want-to-jump body, a want-to-attack body, a want-to-immitate body, a want-to-tell-a-story body, a want-to-be-with-you-and-alone-in-the-same-time body.
    Manèges is a dance that deals with its own desire to be done; there is no crescendo, but always the longing for one.

    Choreography/interpretation: Katerina Andreou
    Music : Ikue Mori – “Anthromorphic Weevil”, from the album “Class Insecta”
    Lighting design/Production manager: Christine Shallenberg

    Manèges was created in CNDC in Angers (France) in the frame of the master program Essais (under the direction of Emmanuelle Huyhn) and was presented in France (CNDC, Angers) in the festival ''Jours Etranges” and in “Festival Critique”, and in Germany (E-Werk, Weimar) in the festival “Passage Recherche”.

    iz (türk.) = Spur, Abdruck, Fährte, Schimmer izle= mit der Spur, auch Imperativ von: (ver)folgen, aufspüren, beobachten, anschauen, zuschauen

    Auf der Suche nach dem, worüber nicht gesprochen wird im deutsch-türkisch-armenischen Beziehungsgeflecht meiner Familie, konnte ich einfangen, was erzählt wird. Dieser Bericht handelt vom Ahnen, von Orten die unbekannt und doch vertraut, von Dingen, die gewusst aber schwer zu greifen sind. Was heißt sich Erinnern? Aus Kayseri, Istanbul, Beirut, London und Berlin baue ich mein eigenes Narrativ: ein Bewegungssetting.

    iz (turk.) = trace, imprint, track, shimmer izle= following the trace also imperative of: to follow, to detect, to seek, to observe, to watch, to spectate, to look on

    I set off to find out what is said and not said in my own familiy and within the German- Turkish-Armenian web of relations. This account is about suspicions, about unknown places that seem familiar and about things we know but cannot fully grasp. What does to remember mean? From Kayseri, Istanbul, Beirut, London and Berlin I constructed my own narrative: a movement setting.
