"This film is about the effect of and profit from not ploughing the land.
If every other Danish farmer refrained from ploughing their land, it would be possible to store CO2 in the soil, which would correspond to the amount of CO2 emitted by 385,000 cars every year.
West Jutland Farmers’ Association has gathered some of Denmark’s top experts in plough-free farming and they all agree that it is not necessary to plough the land in order to secure a good harvest.
On the contrary, conservation tillage increases the biodiversity of the farmland while it reduces leaching of soil erosion caused by wind and water, the occurrence of insect pests and the use of pesticides.
It only takes one generation to destroy the soil, but much, much longer to build it back up.”

This is a film about, how to solve the problem to get newborn calves to survive, and this film shows, how to ensure proper hygiene around newborn calves.
A high standard of hygiene will provide strong and healthy calves, which later will help to ensure profit in the dairy, by among other things a higher daily milk yield in first as well as second lactating animals.
This has been documented in several journal articles.
The mortality rate among calves within Denmark more than doubles in the winther months compared to the summer months.
According to calf expert Rikke Englebrecht, as well as the cited journals most of this is related to insufficient attention right around and after birth.
The acceptance for the farmer that assignment of the first high quality meal of colostrum within 6 hours after birth and its relation to succeed as a strong productive heifer is still a big issue in DK to understand.
The purpose of these films is to show, how to take proper care of the calves, instead of only telling it.
The primary audience is Danish farmers - and particularly farm workers, which originates from different countries.
Therefore the future plan is to translate all the films to different languages.
It is also the first time, there is made visual standard operating procedure (SOP) consultancy for farmers about newborn calves on film.
