FIRST ALLENTOWN COCKTAIL WEEK PRESENTED BY TITO’S HANDMADE VODKA PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER 13-19 DOWNTOWN
New Event Series to Feature Tastings, Music, Educational Happy Hours and an Iron Shaker Competition at Downtown Restaurants and Renaissance Allentown Hotel
Allentown, PA, August 4, 2015 – The first Allentown Cocktail Week, presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, was announced by organizers today at a press conference at The Dime restaurant in downtown Allentown. Allentown Cocktail Week is being organized by the new Lehigh Valley chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) along with City Center Lehigh Valley, Lehigh Valley Faces, County Seat Spirits, several downtown Allentown restaurants and the Renaissance Allentown Hotel.
The seven-day event series will run from September 13 to 19 and will feature tastings, music, lectures, book signings and educational happy hours at various downtown restaurants. In addition, two ticketed special events will be held at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel, the official hotel of Allentown Cocktail Week, which will offer special room rates for attendees.
The first ticketed event, the PA Craft Spirit Affair, will be held during the afternoon of Sunday, September 13. It will feature drink tastings from more than a dozen craft distilleries across the state along with food tastings from downtown Allentown eateries and musical entertainment by The Yetis. Guests will be able to sample craft spirits, including whiskeys, rums, vodkas, gins and more, and meet with the distillers who make them. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Pennsylvania Distillers Guild. Tickets are $30 or $20 for designated drivers.
The week’s second ticketed event will be the Shakers Ball on the evening of Saturday, September 19. The event will feature a “Bar Food Throwdown” from Lehigh Valley restaurants and drink specials from presenting sponsor Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Shakers Ball will be the site of the final round of the Iron Shaker Competition, where USBG Lehigh Valley chapter member bartenders will battle against each other to determine who can craft the best specialty cocktail. The band UUU will provide music, and Lehigh Valley Style will bring their Style Wall and a photographer so fall cocktail attire is recommended. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. Tickets are $45 or $30 for designated drivers.
