Solace is a cinematic installation that investigates the mental process and physical activity of seeing. At regular intervals a handcrafted apparatus creates a monumental soap film as a spatial intervention. Through precise lighting the inner movement of the soap film is revealed, showing a turbulent choreography of iridescent color and fluid motion. As gravity slowly gets a hold of the membrane the viewer can be fascinated with the phenomenon, until inevitably the fragile film bursts.
VTLZR project in-house teaser.
This is an additional video report to show the numerous lighting figures used in our VTLZR installation.
The essence of the VTLZR project comes from the will to offer french musician Vitalic a massive scenographic installation that he can control like a musical instrument, using the same ways of interaction he's used to - namely audio control through the Midi protocol - but applied to space, light and images.
The project consists of a 10 meter wide scaffolding structure, acting as an industrial style backdrop, equipped with lighting fixtures and video LED display. The structure allows us to layer different elements and melt them together in order to produce a complex machinery, revealed during the show element by element.
Each layer of hardware is controlled in realtime by the musicians (the main artist - Vitalic -, the keyboard player and the drummer).
