I wrote this song back in 2009 while I was living in Brooklyn. That was about a year before I moved to Los Angeles. I recorded this quickly, did only one take. I ran out of film in the camera, and some how I managed to unitentionally add that weird effect to it. In the future I'll try to send a little more time recording these thing, but for right now I feel like I just got to start getting them out there. The lyrics are as follows:
I'm dreamin' of California, I'm dreamin' of the sun.
Missin' the fun from a life long ago,
From a girl I used to know,
From the man I used to be.
As I held her tight, as we flew through the night
Driving my car to place afar
On that empty stretch of highway we began to pray;
I can't buy you diamonds,
No, I can't get you rings.
But, I'll make you this here promise,
Yeah, you'll always make my heart strings sing.
So don't ask me for no castle.
I'll only let you down.
But I swear if you should ever stumble
I'll always pick you off the ground.
To the tune of a traveling love song
We found redemption but it didn't last long.
What we built was a house of cards,
And when it falls it falls hard.
So on that day we said goodbye
Now there aint no use in askin' why.
But I'll think about you from time to time,
back to those days when you were mine.
And every time it makes me smile.
So I guess I'll dream of California for a while.
