This is the story of a real place in Southern Illinois during the Super Nova of 1054 that lasted 2 years. We now know it as The Crab Nebula. The culture that existed then was absolutely HUGE and was up and down the Mississippi and extended throughout the Americas (but no one is positive how much).
I took the archaeology of this amazing city and tried to help it come alive. Please see http://www.Kahokia.org for more information and my wordpress page at https://mkbarrjournal.wordpress.com for exploration on the evidence and why I came to different conclusions.
A quick peek during the festival held with the Owl Moon Goddess looking over the Great Woodhenge of Kahokia (Cahokia). The Thunderbird along with the Sun passes the light over to the Moon. There is an accompanying hologram video (if you have a projector: see how to make one here... http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Hologram but there are a TON of other tutorials out there).
I videotaped the hologram so you can see them together(ish) if you don't have a projector. The projector we made is about 18 inches at the top. I could have gone slightly bigger which I wish I would have. :) This is a ton of experimentation and seeing what works and what doesn't. I like the way the 5 Creatives lens looks at the end but it can still be tweaked. Also the falcon constellation should have the lights twinkling in 3d but it didn't quite work.
NOTE: TURN OFF SOUND if you are playing along with Episode 2!)
If you start the video for Episode 2 (vimeo.com/142928340) and this Hologram video AND you have a projector (see here how to make one http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Hologram) then you get the complete experience. I did a lot of experimenting with this and my projector is bigger. It's not perfect but still fun.
This was a solo art installation about the home. I designed the architecture and created all of the art but there are 3 pieces that I had done prior and had a bit of help with (the splash, the arrow, and the wheel of adventure) The one thing I really want to clarify, even though it is in the video, is that the wall with the mask and carpet is a giant sample board. If you don't understand the language I'm speaking, you're not alone. ;)
