1. Wakefield born lens based artist Alicia Wallace is experimenting with immersive projected installations and collaborative work. Exploring ideas behind creating and documenting movement, and reflecting on moving image as an illusion created by the brain. All visuals only exist because of light, the ethereal qualities of which have become the main fascination informing my practice.

Illuminated gestures travelling through space and time, the dancers improvise to a specially created piece of music generating energised trails through the dark. In a state of flux, the visual traces of the light have a prolonged presence of colour and movement. She worked collaboratively with dancers and sound artists by creating the initial variables, but letting their reaction be impulsive. This spontaneity is explored by creating kaleidoscopic studies, visually breaking it down into a fleeting collection of rhythmic moments, whilst abstracting the gestures further into geometric shapes, symmetrical lines and evolving patterns.
