This is a compilation of clips I shot throughout our travels in Southern California August 1-9, 2012. Locations in the video include Point Mugu State Park, Andrew Molera State Park, San Simeon, Julia Pheiffer State Park, US Open of Surfing Huntington Beach, Lower Trestles, Catalina Island, etc. For the first three days of our trip we headed up north and camped at three different state parks in the Big Sur area before heading back down south to Huntington Beach for the US Open of Surfing. After the US Open, we headed back down to San Clemente for the next couple days and spent a couple days watching the worlds best surfers at Lowers. On the final day, we took a boat to Catalina Island and explored on rented electric bikes. The trip consisted of myself, my brother, John Zachary and his fiance Allie King. (Fun fact: He proposed to Allie at Andrew Molera State Park during this trip) My friend Micah from La Verne also came down on Saturday to watch/shoot the US Open, and has a short cameo in the video indulging in an ice cream cone at Huntington Beach.
Surfers in order of appearance:
I actually shot a lot more footage at Lowers, so I plan to make an additional video highlighting the surfing that went down those two days at Lowers.
Video was filmed entirely on a 5D Mark II camera with 17-40L, 50 1.4 & 100-400L. No stabilization equipment was used with the exception of the time-lapse and surfing shots I used a tripod (with a ballhead, not video head) so the shots are a little shaky.
Edited using iMovie, with the exception of the time-lapse which was sped up in Adobe Premiere CS4.
More still photos will be available for viewing on my blog in the next few days. And print purchases can be made through http://prints.chriszachary.com
