Who is Jesus Christ? Since the 1st Century that question has never failed to create a stir. No one is more hated or loved and answers have ranged from Demon to Deity. Yet those who dare to look beyond the prejudices and encounter the historical person and work of the real Jesus Christ are never ever the same.
Christians believe the Bible is God’s Word because Jesus believed it. He didn’t simply believe the Bible but His life was saturated with it. If we believe he was who he said he was, then we must accept the entire Bible as God’s word. We can’t take on his Lordship and not have the same heart for Scripture that Jesus had. I believe in the bible b/c I believe in Jesus and I believe in Jesus b/c I believe in the bible. Isn’t that circular reasoning? Yes. So we must 1st start with seeing if the biblical accounts of Jesus are reliable.
The Bible isn't a book of rules or heroes as much as it’s a love story about a brave Prince (Jesus) who leaves His palace, His throne – everything – to rescue the one He loves.”-(Sally Lloyd Jones The Jesus Storybook Bible) The whole Bible is about this Prince (Jesus): The O.T. promises God’s rescuer through the mediator offices of Prophet, Priest & King and the N.T. presents God’s rescuer by fulfilling all three offices.
The Bible is not so much a set of disconnected stories giving us life lessons on what we must DO to be right with God, but it is a single story of what God has DONE through His Son to make us right with Him. At the heart of that story is the death of His Son.
Why Did Jesus Die? So that we could be justified by grace through faith in Him! If you have this, it’s the end of your struggle for validation, worth, and acceptability.
