Imagine running 125 miles, over 55 hours, through the Swiss Alps, with virtually no sleep. That's what Anke Drescher did. She was one of only five women to finish the Swiss Iron trail. Sheer determination.

This video was taken about 25 hours into the Swiss Iron Trail, a 125 mile, single stage race, in the Alps. After a miserable, cold night on the trail, I was elated to see the sunrise over the mountains and realized that I had a shot at finishing the race. When I saw the man in blue--who you see in the video--limping along the trail at day break, he was ready to quit. I told him to keep moving and shared the advice a fellow runner had given me in my darkest moment. "You just have to believe. Everything you need is already inside you to finish."
Thanks to Mammut for the great shot. Swiss Iron Trail, August 2013
