1. Progression of the Film Look i got just using Final Cut's built-in Filters.

    1) Original footage shot with a Panasonic HVX200
Our focus has been having some issues and is in need of repair, but that a whole other subject.

    2) I added the SHARPEN filter set at 36
Though it added some grain, i really like the way it adds to the final look of the shot plus it clears up a lot of the softness of the footage.

    3) Using the COLOR CORRECTOR i crushed the blacks and added a lot more to the mids making the shot very contrast-like.

    4) I then used the 3-WAY COLOR CORRECTOR to add more of that filmic look to it. Bumping up the blues to the shadows and highlights and adding more of an orangey color the the mids. I also took the saturation level down to about half way.

    5) In the fifth shot you will notice a darkening of the edges popping out the subject even more. You can use the VIGNETTE filter and mess with the different settings to achieve a look that you like.

    6) Lastly i added a COLOR SOLID on a separate level. A pumpkin orange, i set the color solid layer's composite mode to MULTIPLY, giving it an over-all orange/sepia look. The look from here was a bit over powering so to give it just a taste of orange flavor i took the opacity down to 30.

The last shot is a comparison of the final product on the left and the beginning footage on the right.
I really liked the way it turned out in the end and i thought i'd share it with you all.

Thanks for checking out my video, if you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to leave a comment.

The Final video was used in our video announcements at church.
