The Mansaray family lives in Seduya, Koinadugu District, Sierra Leone.
Jadee, Poreh, and Yerieba support their family by farming a small plot of land. They grow rice and raise poultry and livestock.
Life can sometimes be hard for the Mansarays — they have a tight budget and a small amount of land, and they do not always have the resources they need. Even so, they are working hard to have a successful farm and to help make their community stronger. Here Poreh Mansaray, left, with some of her children, take shade under lean-to structure on the land they farm. World Renew partner Christian Extension services has been helping the Mansaray family learn new farming techniques to improve their crops and make their farming more productive.
Together, we are helping families like the Mansarays find long-term solutions to poverty. Our programs focus on food security, agriculture, maternal and child health, improved sanitation, and savings for business initiatives.
We’ve created Operation Ruby Slipper so teens and young adults can take action. Plan a group event with your school group, youth group, college group or church group and raise money to help hurricane survivors get back home.
You can make a powerful difference in the lives of the poor.
You can give a duck or a sheep or a pig... you can give a lantern and literacy bookset... or you can give an emergency kit...
More than 45 ways to make a difference have been gathered today in World Renew's 2016-17 Gift Catalog. You may be picking out Christmas gifts with your grandchildren, setting up a Giving Tree for Advent, or honoring the milestone of a loved one. The joy of choosing gifts from the catalog brings you close to those you care about.
