1. Side x Side’s annual summer professional development program happens each year in late June, directly after the school year concludes. Hosted by the Portland Museum of Art and the University of Southern Maine, educators participate in gallery activities, presentations and hands-on workshops to learn how to integrate the arts and teaching artists into their classrooms while gaining insight on local art resources available to them and their students. Each summer educators come away from the experience recharged and inspired to engage their students in new and exciting ways.
