Ups and downs for ŠKODA Motorsport at Rally Portugal: Andreas Mikkelsen / Anders Jæger were dominating the event in a ŠKODA FABIA R5 up to the last stage. A few kilometres into the Fafe Power Stage, they hit a stone and had to retire handing over the victory to teammates Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson. The Swedish ŠKODA pairing won their fourth event in 2017 with a courageous and faultless drive and managed to enlarge their lead in the World Rally Championship (WRC 2). At the Rally Guanajuato México, the third round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) 2017, the ŠKODA Motorsport crew Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson enjoyed a fine weekend, securing a second successive WRC2 victory to move clear at the top of the Championship standings.
There was more success for the ŠKODA Motorsport works team in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) at the Rally Sweden. In the second round of the WRC2 championship, Swedish pairing Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson claimed their first win in the WRC2 at their home event, as they dominated in year’s only snow and ice rally.
They finished 51.8 seconds clear of their nearest rivals in a dominant display which secured a fifth successive WRC2 victory for the ŠKODA FABIA R5 and extended ŠKODA Motorsport’s 100% record in 2017.

A day of celebration in the Principality of Monaco: Andreas Mikkelsen has set a milestone in the ŠKODA Motorsport success story. Starting in the ŠKODA FABIA R5 for the first time, the Norwegian rally star triumphed with navigator Anders Jæger in the WRC 2 standings at the 85th Rallye Monte Carlo.
The cars might look different but the thrill is the same. It's been exactly 40 years since the Czech rally racer Václav Blahna kept the audience at the edge of their chairs by crossing the Rally Monte Carlo finish line as a victor in his ŠKODA 130 RS. Blahna teamed up with Jan Kopecký, a present-day rally rider, and stylishly celebrated his special anniversary by challenging Kopecký's ŠKODA FABIA R5 with a special Monte Carlo paint job at the Sosnová circuit.
