1. I am reading in Swedish from the Novel "George Napoleons Tragedienne " By the author Lillemor Brink
from page 174 some interesting notes from the time of 1790 early 1800 written from St. Petersburg, by that times famous actor and opera singer, Mlle George, or as her real name was:Marguerite Josephine Weimer, escaped from France . I have tightened up the context to give a short meaning of the text in English.
Lillemor Brink has made a genuine research about this actor who also visited Sweden in the first years of 1800 and the Theatre of Drottningholm. Thanks for your kind attention.

Möte med Ängel- A meeting with and Angel

Mlle .George, the French actress just arrived to St. Petersburg,
She is out for a tour in the city.
In a short meeting with the Guard of the Chevalier,
she also notices how people are bowing in front of the
    riding chevaliers.
Surrounded by life guards she is lifting her head
and meeting an intensive light of blue. The eyes of
    an Angel ( she thinks.)
The Angel is no less than the Russian Tsar, who
is greeting her and already knowing who she is,
also talking to her and looking forward to seeing her on stage.
The young actress, only 22 years old, is of course very amazed
and feel herself much honoured by the attention.
Her French blood, talking to herself and
confirming the fact, that she is an artist, and nothing else.
However her young blood is rising in front of the Majesty.
She finds the meeting rather extraordinary.
To be so close to an Angel.

    Letter to Bebelle from
    the Novel by Lillemor Brink.
    George, Napoléons Tragédienne

My dear beloved Bebelle, you my dearest sister.
I miss you and your high spirits. You would really like it here.
    Everything is new, exciting.
The Russians are generous people. The rich people are having a stylish living.
Others have to struggle for their lives but are still very hospitable.
Marianne should be in heaven--- and totally overworked---by cooking feasting meals
which my count and me are being served by the aristocratic. You have to tell her.
Cockscombs swimming in turtle soup, Sterlets ( a very rare fish) with shining Caviar,
Veal steak with asparagus and cucumber, ice-cream with wild strawberries and pineapple.
Corks are banging.--- Champagne! the host is with tears proposing , a toast for His Majesty
the Tsar. The Musicians takes up a melody in victory and all guests stand up, saluting,
rise their glasses emptying, in one breath, and throwing the glass over the shoulder.
Splinter from the glass is blowing and the heavy occupied servants get only more to take care of.
You don't believe how the Russian people look up to their Tsar. " An angel of God on this earth"
Dandified persons are looking very compassionately on us normal deadly, and boasting over
how close this angel they just now are.
A rare infatuation. I will soon get an opportunity I suppose to meet this Angel and feel its
wing-beat. A visit will be necessary I believe.
I am sending you thousands of kisses and hugs. Have a good life wishes from the Frenchwoman, Your Mimi, soon the Countess of Beckendorf.
