Thermal Flux is a sound effects library formed by extreme temperature reactions. With materials ranging from -119°F to 1900°F all captured at 192kHz/24bit, it's a fiery (and icy) collection of unique sound design source material.
In each recording, props with vast temperature differentials interact with each other... Red hot ball bearings vaporize liquids, melt ice, and destroy various household products. Extremely cold metal instantly freezes water. Molten metals and glass pour into water, groaning, chirping, and crackling, as they solidify. Dry ice causes coins to viciously chatter. Water beads bounce, whine, and buzz on blazing hot pans. White hot sand roars and erupts upon contact with water. All of this and more was recorded with mics capturing quality frequency information up to ~65kHz. This ultrasonic content allows for extreme pitch shifting without compromising fidelity.
This SFX library is purpose-built for the times an environment needs to be felt, but not be distracting. Every track in Diffuse City was recorded with some sort of real life “filter” in mind; be it distance, elevation, time of day, physical material… Anything to provide the feeling of city life with out the specificity of many urban ambience libraries. No distracting close car pass-bys or people talking; only great natural ambience beds.
Diffuse City was recorded in big cities, suburbs, small towns, and rural settings over a span of two years. It was largely recorded over very late nights, when very few people we’re around. Occasionally, however, a car would pass by… a gun would go off… While these were edited out of the recordings, they are included as “extras” in the library. Perfect for adding some flavor to a moment that’s authentic to the environment it was recorded in.
In addition to thorough metadata, each ambience in Diffuse City is embedded with markers highlighting unique moments that aren’t easily visible in a waveform. Software like Soundminer v4.5 and Reaper can display these markers, making it easy to identify distinct sonic moments in an otherwise nondescript waveform.
MaK is a Kontakt instrument which replicates the sounds of a person using various computer keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen devices. This allows you to very quickly perform the foley of using one of these devices via midi.
MaK was created to speed up the time consuming process of editing and/or recording mice and keyboards. After realizing how often this came up in both my commercial and film work, I decided there had to be a better way.
Several recording sessions and Kontakt script headaches later, MaK was born!
There are 15 devices available in MaK: 5 Keyboards, 5 Mice, 2 Touchscreens, and 3 digital keyboards. Each of these devices has been meticulously recorded at a number of different velocities for a very realistic playback performance.
The majority of the devices have 5 velocity layers; from soft to hard. Each of these velocity layers have 32 different samples: 16 for the press sound, and 16 for the release sounds of each device. That’s 160 samples per device! OMAK will randomly trigger press and release samples for each layer based on the velocity you play the notes. Easy to use controls allow you to adjust additional layers of randomness in both velocity and pitch. All of this adds up to realistic devices, and convincing performance.
Machine Emanation is a contact microphone and drone sound effects library focused on machines.
It contains multiple recordings and designed drones sourced from band saw to ceiling fan; table saw to dishwasher, thickness planer to paper shredder; bench grinder to refrigerator. Machines were recorded turning on and off, running, and at any available speeds.
Machine Emanation is built for sound design. Recorded at 192 kHz with Barcus Berry 4000 and JrF C-Series contact microphones; these high resolution recordings make for great unique sound design source material. High sample rates mean far more possibilities for stretching, bending, and manipulating these SFX into your next creation.
Also included are drones designed from each machine. Power tools and appliances are re-imagined as dark rumbling drones and unique atmospheres. A small glimpse of what can be created with Machine Emanation.
