We met with Lisamarie, her mother, and sister to talk about wedding photography. Half way into the meeting we began to talk about engagement sessions, and the immediate response was a reluctant yes. Lisa Marie seemed to be saying, "Yes, I would like an engagement session" because someone was holding a gun to her head. Automatically, we think this girl must have seen some bad engagement sessions. We were right, but there was more to it. Lisamarie did not want a portrait session. She wanted the session to be true, no posing, just her and Jojo doing what they do. It turns out that we had the perfect idea for her, an idea that we have had in the back burner for a really long time. The idea needed to have the right couple and the right concept. It definitely had to not only be photographed but filmed. Lisamarie and Jojo were a perfect match for the idea, which was to document a couple and the bridal party celebrating. The concepts we originally had envisioned were a party on a boat, a pool party, or a bonfire on the beach. As soon as we mentioned the bonfire on the beach, Lisamarie lit up. She said it was perfect and exactly what she would want in her engagement session. She had already been discussing the idea of getting all the bridal party together for a celebration before the wedding. So, that is exactly what they did. Lisamarie wanted a boho feel for the shoot. So between herself, friends, family and the PS girls, we all chipped in and brought props. Friends got to the house early to help put up bistro lights, light candles, mix drinks, and set up the music playlist. It all was real. It was them being them. It was exactly what this couple wanted. The photographs are amazing, but the Save the Date video we did for them totally encompasses the concept and idea. We are hoping this is a start to many more shoots like these!
