the Womb

Although in 2015 the Dutch psychedelic band 'the Womb' will release their first LP, they have already been active for a couple of years.
At first, the four founding members started molding their sound, inventively building a humble, but good sounding recording studio in the old ballet classroom of an abandoned school building in The Hague. Creating a nursery that could grow along with the ideas and the songs, they decided to name this place the Womb.
By recording and mixing befriended bands they gained experience and it enabled them to experiment with an ever-expanding number of instruments, amplifiers, effects, microphones and tape recorders.Entering the Womb with a tiny idea, they'd let the rest of the music fall into form by itself and the sounds shaped by the studio, which was then already an instrument in it's own right.
During numerous recording and writing sessions over the next two years, the band shaped their distinct sound and style. Seeing that the studio played an integral role in every part of creating this band and it's music, they decided to adopt the name of the studio, emerge from their underground soundcave and take the Womb experience for a trip.

Melodic bass lines, flowing grooving drums, dreamy chord progressions, layers of super electric colored synthesizers and scorching fuzz guitars, with 'out there' rhythmically hypnotizing words and melodies on top.

Psychedelic sounds, you hear the obvious, unavoidable influence of 60's 70's psych-classics, but by taking every idea as it comes and letting the songs "choose" their own direction, all kinds of influences, from all times infuse the music of the Womb. An epically diverse mix of styles, bound together seamlessly by their common prefix: psychedelic. Going from psychedelic fuzz rock, to dreamy psych-pop within the same song, and from a minimalistic velvet underground inspired psychedelic orgasm, to 80's keyboard sounds combined with bit crushed wild live drums and a leading melodic role for the bassguitar.

The Womb delivers an authentic, playfully abstract, spaced out new sound into the neo-psychedelic babyboom. A florid kaleidoscopic record and an intense live experience for the whole family.
