1. In our terrestrial view of things, the speed of light seems incredibly fast. But as soon as you view it against the vast distances of the universe, it's unfortunately very slow. This animation illustrates, in realtime, the journey of a photon of light emitted from the surface of the sun and traveling across a portion of the solar system, from a human perspective.

I've taken liberties with certain things like the alignment of planets and asteroids, as well as ignoring the laws of relativity concerning what a photon actually "sees" or how time is experienced at the speed of light, but overall I've kept the size and distances of all the objects as accurate as possible. I also decided to end the animation just past Jupiter as I wanted to keep the running length below an hour.

  2. I am a destination visual artist who specializes in photography, timelapse cinematography, & filmmaking.  I love to travel, so if you have a project in some far flung location, lets talk.

Yosemite National Park, the High Sierra, and the Eastern Sierra are some of the most beautiful places on earth. Ever since I serendipitously won a trip to Yosemite when I was 18, the beautiful Range of Light has captured my heart and become my home. Nothing brings me more joy than to share this life changing beauty with others.

Ever since I became fascinated with timelapse photography almost 2 years ago, after seeing the work of Tom Lowe, I’ve wanted to do a piece on Yosemite and the Sierra. Now after almost 2 years of shooting, I'm thrilled to share. I hope you enjoy my vision of my home, the majestic Yosemite & Sierra. Best viewed Full Screen with Sound :)

If you would like to license any of my clips or hire me to shoot for you, please be in touch. I do have 4k footage available for licensing.

Also a huge thanks to all of you who help support me with your warm comments and continuing encouragement. It means more to me than you know.

I hope this inspires everyone to get outside and explore the beautiful outdoors, especially magical places like Yosemite National Park and the High Sierra. It's National Parks week and all of our national parks are free this week, so get outside and explore!

  3. The other night I stayed up all night to experience the lunar eclipse out at Delicate Arch in Utah’s Arches National Park and it was totally awesome. I never imagined my very first time of seeing this iconic landmark would be during such a special celestial event. I had 3 cameras rolling timelapse. Rather than zooming in on the moon I wanted to show the full moon illuminating a landscape transitioning to a sky filled with stars & the Milky Way, since we only get to experience seeing a full moon amidst a star filled sky during these eclipses. Normally the full moon washes out most of the stars.

Please follow me on Instagram and Facebook, and sharing is always appreciated!

This was shot with the Sony a7s and Canon's new 11-24 lens, a Sony a7r with a Zeiss 15, and a Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon 16-35.

  4. I have always wanted to travel to New Zealand for as long as I can remember, and so when I decided to move out of my home of 10 years and start pursuing film making around the world, I knew the time had come. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made to leave my beloved home, but I was more ready than ever to embrace the unknown and explore the world. I spent 3 months in New Zealand traveling in a Camper Van having one of the most incredible times of my life. I enjoyed countless nights under the stars, towering mountains, magical rainforest, stunning ocean, and meeting people from all over the world. It changed my life forever, and I know I'll never be the same.

Magical New Zealand is comprised of 8640 individual images from over 150,000 that were taken as I traveled around New Zealand for 3 months last spring. The inspirational music of Shaun Diaz is the perfect complement to this magical landscape. If you enjoy, please share!

This piece and footage clips from it are available for licensing at 4k and 1080p.

I originally created this piece with beautiful spoken poetry accompanying it. Recently I prepared this without the spoken word for my stock agency and since it has such a different feel I want to share it here as well. You can see the original piece here:

Eye of the Storm is a winter saga in Iceland. In Iceland there are many kinds of storms. Ice, snow, rain, sand, ash, solar, magnetic, and more.

Storms are agents of change. While often destructive and unpredictable, they also demonstrate the unyielding power of nature. They reveal nature's beauty and its hand in creating the landscapes we see today.

Shot in Iceland between February and March, 2014, I was lucky enough to witness and film the power of an X-class solar flare and coronal mass ejection hitting our atmosphere. The resulting auroras were a sight hard to believe, even in person and seeing it with my very own eyes. Enjoy the film!
