The New Zealand Motorcycle Tour Channel

Update! The short film: "R. Tucker Thompson; Journey" by Michael Austin (USA), has won an award from the Accolade Global Film Competition in the category of: Viewer Impact: Motivational / Inspirational.

The tall ship R. Tucker Thompson! She lives in the Bay of Islands in northern New Zealand. I had the pleasure of sailing on her in January 2016 and the experience made a huge impression on me. I hope that I can convey some of that in this short film. My appreciation to the crew and non-profit trust that operate the ship - it's main purpose is to introduce sailing and the sea to youngsters. Should you find your way to the north island, be sure to look them up. I highly recommend this experience. Their contact info is in the ending credits!

This film was created as a pro bono gift to the charitable trust and intended to be used in multiple settings. It's shown to schools to generate enthusiasm in their sail training programs, in public tourist centered environments to spark interest in the tours they offer to raise money via day sails to visitors, and with prospective regional donors and supporters. As it is intended to be viewed across many countries, narration is absent except for the opening quote, and relies instead on imagery, movement, and other select quotes to convey the beauty and experience of "Learning of Life Through The Sea".

It had it's first public showing at the Museum on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds in New Zealand, a very prestigious venue and I am deeply honored to have it shown there.

To date, the film has been viewed in over 90 countries around the world and I have received communications from many, many individuals who are grateful to know of the ship, it's mission, and to share their intention to include sailing on her as part of their New Zealand vacation itinerary.

I didn't intend for it to become a film making adventure on the first trip, and only took two small action cameras and my phone. One thing led to another and several cool videos were produced from the footage! One film, "Allegories in the Garage: Persistence of Memory" is also part of the overall "Allegories" series which has it's own channel here: Allegories in the Garage where you can view the entire series to get a bit of perspective on my philosophical rants!

On my second trip, I took 4 "action cameras" as well as 2 full cinema (4K) cameras. As of February, 2016, I am still working on a number of videos that will be posted up in the coming months!

This channel houses all of the New Zealand videos in one place. If you are thinking of doing a motorbike tour, do watch and enjoy! Be sure to visit my other channel for more cool videos!

Thanks again!
