Starts with “Fjordal Vision”. Two glass tubes (manufactured at some point in time by Dupont to store chemicals) with videos shot on a leave-no-trace trek thru northern Iceland projected into the bottom of the tubes. Imagery and audio of the landscape reflects and bounces around the interior of the tube.
Next is “sub/sound/scream”. An etched mirror, etched with half a soundwave of an underwater scream is attached to the wall like a shelf, its reflection cast upon the wall in a complex shadow drawing echoing the etched line over and over on the wall and back into the mirror.
Lastly, an original poem printed on rice paper and pulled apart after printing and mounted on glass.
SURGE is a project that reads and translates 1 year's energy data from Babson College into a musical score for piano. Played alternately by 2 sight-reading musicians and a digital synthesizer in a projected video, the 500 page score also unfolds in a sculptural installation at the Hollister Gallery.
