1. „Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer. Camp out among the grasses and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature's darlings. Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. As age comes on, one source of enjoyment after another is closed, but nature's sources never fail.“ - John Muir - Our National Parks, 1901

El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls. Everyone knows those famous attractions of the nature in Yosemite National Park.

All these are within a few square miles around the Yosemite Valley. Yosemite Valley is less than 1% of the whole Yosemite National Park area. Any many visitors only see that valley. Its like the heart of Yosemite National Park and thats why we want to bring it to the screens in incredibly detailed 8k resolution with real High Dynamic Range (HDR), 50fps and cinematic field of view in 1:2,39.

Nothing happens unless first a dream - Carl Sandburg

If you would ask me, what influenced me most, when I was a teenager, I would mention this quote of Carl Sandburg. It was printed on a poster of Uluṟu, which was called Ayers Rock in the 1990s outside of Australia. For over ten years that poster was hanging around and I had seen it every day. It is not surprising that the wish to travel to Down Under became stronger each year. Finally in 2010 I did my first trip to Australia, a further trip followed.

And I returned again in 2015 - this time I wanted to bring back something for everybody staying at home - Australia’s Nature. Incredible coast lines like the Twelve Apostel, Byron Bay, Cape Conran (Thanks Helmut :), Queensland coast from Daintree to Gold Coast and the outback with simply nothing for thousands of kilometers and than suddenly the Uluṟu or the Devil Marbles.
Many trips starting and ending in the big cities of Australia - but you haven’t been to Australia, if you just stay there. It is not all about Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne …. you have to go out and experience that continent on your own. The film starts and ends in the cities, but between you will see what you could see in three weeks of that amazing land. We couldn’t be everywhere, but one day we will return and perhaps we will bring you another piece of nature from Down Under.

The outcome of the last trip is a 8k time-lapse in true HDR. Not that tone-mapping thing - it is real HDR for the newest displays.

Thanks for the fantastic soundtrack and mix to Kriz Mental for this 8K / 4K / UHD timelapse. Thanks to Alex for the title design and for polishing the graphics for this time lapse again. Thanks to Stef for her support to realize this Australia timelapse.

  3. Now available in true HDR (HDR 10) and up to 8k on Vimeo! Ready for the new Apple TV 4k HDR!

4k, 8k, HDR … technology is developing rapidly - and so is time lapse and timelapse production. Which city could better fit as a place for that technical demo, if not Big Apple - New York City. The video shows the city in one of its less frenetic times of the year - around Christmas - but this city never sleeps.
Enjoy our first technical preview of a series of ultra high definition clips in HDR.

This 8k time-lapse was produced with cameras with more than 42 Megapixels and enough dynamic range to produce REAL High Dynamic Range - HDR - footage.

The next journey already started (oh, to be honest, it started a year ago and is now in postproduction …) and we will come back soon with another 8k HDR adventure.

Thanks for the fantastic soundtrack and mix to Kriz Mental for this 8K / 4K / UHD timelapse. Thanks to Alex for the title design and for polishing the graphics for this time lapse again. Thanks to Stef for her support to realize this New York City timelapse.
