1. I have the Blackmagic Ursa with me for a few weeks, so Im currently doing some testing with it.

The Ursa is heavy, so I thought id lug it around today to see how fatigued I get while using it in a real world situation.

I like to shoot ready to go, so even if I pack the camera away, it needs to be ready as soon as I unpack again on location… or if I see a cool shot that I need to capture really quick, its not going to be a hassle to get the shot.

Great thing is, the Ursa packs away in a small shoulder bag from Tiffen…the Dome F2, which I also used with my EPIC.

The camera boots up and shuts down nice and fast too

At the moment, I only have 1 IDX DUO 150 battery and single 120GB Cfast 2.0 card, so I thought i’d see how long they both last out in the field today.

Unfortunately when I timed myself…I started filming (non constant) at 10am and the card was full at 10:30. But while saying full, it also gave me a minute, to two minutes more record time after displaying full card.

    I shot at 4K Prores 422HQ at 80fps

It was pretty much overcast today and the screen to my surprise, was really hard to see anything.

Even when the screen isn’t in your face from shoulder shots….its still pretty hard to see.
So with the screen being close to your face while on the shoulder, an EVF is also needed for when its bright.

So in the clip below, I could only put together a piece long enough for what the card recorded.

It delivers colors nicely and the skin tones looks great too, 80fps in UHD is also a nice thing to have :)

  3. Was wondering how much you can film sitting at one seat :) Also was testing my new rig. Well, doesn't help much when the road is bad. With right log space ISO 1600 looks really nice imo. Recorded some sounds this time as well. Used manual lens without stabilization. Added some fine grain in post.

  4. When the daylights are off and neon is on, people of Madrid coming to streets. City changing and waking up. Beautiful, colorful and friendly people.

It was challenge to walk and shoot with uncontrolled light changes. Could not get right balance on some shots. Made this short film by request. This is first part.
Most of shots ISO 1250-3200 and aperture 2.8.
Everything is handheld. Kamerar QV-1 as a stabilizer. VC was off.
