1. Music Video style Preview Trailer for PATANG

    ABOUT PATANG
A poetic journey to the old city of Ahmedabad, PATANG weaves together the stories of six people transformed by the energy of India's largest kite festival. Every year a million kites fill the skies above Ahmedabad-dueling, soaring, tumbling and flying high. When a successful Delhi businessman takes his daughter on a surprise trip back to his childhood home for the festival, an entire family has to confront its own fractured past and fragile dreams. With naturalistic performances from actors and non-actors alike, bold, lyrical editing, vibrant cinematography and a kinetic score, Patang delights the senses and nourishes the spirit.

PATANG celebrated its world premiere at the BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL and its North American premiere in competition at the TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL. Showcased at over 30 film festivals to sold out audiences - including the CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF LOS ANGELES, MILL VALLEY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, VANCOUVER FILM FESTIVAL and ROGER EBERT’S FILM FESTIVAL. Winner of the Best Feature Narrative at the HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, Best World Narrative at the INDY FILM FESTIVAL, Special Jury Award at the OSIANS FILM FESTIVAL in New Delhi, and the Best Feature Narrative at the DC APA FILM FESTIVAL.

4 STARS - "Hypnotically beautiful visuals...woven into a kaleidoscope of colors, faces, music and a little romance... Bhargava is MASTERFUL." -Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUNTIMES - http://bit.ly/KG4gf8

NEW YORK TIMES CRITICS PICK - "Prashant Bhargava’s first feature, has a lovely, unforced quality." - Rachel Saltz, NEW YORK TIMES - nyti.ms/KqRyEc

"UPLIFTING... COLORFULLY VIVID - Reminiscent of Wong Kai Wai" - Robert Abel, LOS ANGELES TIMES - lat.ms/MLg3cb

"VISUALLY POETIC... There are few things more difficult to pull off than elegant visual poetry. The line between pretension and artful provocation is a thin one indeed, and any director that attempts to construct a metaphorical mosaic runs the risk of looking foolish. Yet cinema would sure be a dull medium without artists that aimed for the stars, and that is precisely what Prashant Bhargava does in his debut feature, PATANG (The Kite)... This is the sort of gorgeously photographed picture that practically begs to be seen on the biggest screen possible. It stands as a reminder of what truly absorbs a viewer into a film... Warrants comparison to the work of cinema’s great poet, Terence Malick." - Matt Fagerholm, HOLLYWOOD CHICAGO -http://bit.ly/LpRWk6

"GORGEOUS" - Jonathon Crow, YAHOO MOVIES

"A movie that's so lyrical, so heartfelt and so intimate that it feels like you're reading someone's diary rather than watching a movie. Like going through their childhood photo albums. Every frame of this film feels like a snapshot of a very private moment between the director and the city of Ahmedabad, with its kites in the sky, its busy streets, its cascading rooftops and its fascinating people." - DOLCE & NAMAK TALK INDIAN MOVIES - http://bit.ly/MNA2VZ

"Patang is an art film in the highest definition that is filled with both exciting scenes, beautiful pictures and quiet moments, where a look or an action literally takes your breathe away." - Stacey Y, BOLLYSPICE - http://bit.ly/KiPeiF

"Everything about Prashant Bhargava’s film will draw you in and make you feel a part of this place – the story, the visuals, the sounds, the music, the characters – especially the characters. But what will linger once the film is done are the moments of pure poetry" - TOTALLY FILMI - http://bit.ly/MMTarF

"The cast—a blend of seasoned pros and some truly gifted beginners—is flawless... Patang soars as high as anyone could possibly wish." - John Ketich, THE STRAIGHT - http://bit.ly/PBa0ts

"The beauty in PATANG is in its simplicity. No crazy chase scenes, to big action, no fancy whiz-bang editing or CG, just a story well told. No one is going to mistake this for a documentary, the film is far too graceful to be accidental, however, the film holds sway over the audience by allowing them to feel privy to someone else's traumas that feel eerily familiar." - J. Hurtado,TWITCH - http://bit.ly/L2qPPz

"The setup is as cross-culturally durable as anything in Chekhov or Ozu or Kiarostami." Bhargava "is a humanist and a real talent" - Michael Phillips, CHICAGO TRIBUNE

“Bhargava knows when to stop and catch the right, fleeting expressions and gestures. There’s a gentleness in this snapshot of a family and all its baggage that seems almost effortless.” - THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

"An unexpected, warm and engaging masterpiece. Outstanding camera work - precisely how I shoot my own films!" - Michael Nyman, Composer (Gattaca, The Piano)
