B-movie monster maker Paul Blaisdell's work and life with wife Jackie in Topanga Canyon, California are explored in this eight minute mini-doc. In the infamous Bob's Basement in Burbank, California, which houses a world class collection of sci-fi and horror movie memorabilia, Bob and Kathy Burns talk about their friendship and collaborations with the Blaisdells. The importance of Blaisdell's work is made clear through stills and video. Since this film was completed, filmmaker Vincent Sassone discovered Jackie Blaisdell alive and living as a recluse in the Topanga Canyon cabin she had shared with Paul until his death in 1983. The friendship and correspondence that ensued between Jackie Blaisdell and Vincent Sassone continued until her death in 2007. It was then that Sassone brought the Burnses back to Topanga for the first time since Paul died. When Bob Burns entered the cabin he rediscovered the treasures created by Paul that had been fiercely guarded by Jackie since his death. Blaisdell's historic monster movie memorabilia can currently be found in the collection in Bob's Basement. Sassone's screenplay, Monster Maker, and short film, I Was a Creature from Outer Space!, were inspired by his correspondence and conversations with Jackie. But it was her friendship that changed his life.
