Urgent Alert is a feature available on Townsquared that allows you to give and receive instant notification about time-sensitive information or events that affect your business.
What qualifies as “time-sensitive?”
Some examples include a shoplifter at large, an emergency situation like a fire or evacuation, major traffic jams, or any other circumstance that requires immediate awareness from everyone in the surrounding community.
Posting an Urgent Alert is easy. Simply sign in to your Townsquared neighborhood, and click the dialogue box at the top of your feed. Select the right-most tab labeled “Urgent Alert,” and let your neighbors know what’s going on. It is important to note that in any emergency situation, you should first call the proper authorities to ensure everyone’s safety.
How you receive Urgent Alerts:
1) A post pinned to the top of your Townsquared feed.
Urgent Alert posts will be highlighted at the top of the feed for 12 hours, allowing all the community to stay updated on new developments.
2) An email notification.
Members can receive automatic email notifications whenever there is an Urgent Alert in your neighborhood.
3) A text message to your mobile phone.
If you’ve enabled mobile Urgent Alerts, you’ll receive a short text message with the information posted in your feed.
To enable mobile Urgent Alerts, sign into Townsquared and locate your settings. They are located under the drop down menu next to your name at the top right hand corner of the browser window. Click the third tab labeled “Mobile Alerts,” enter your phone number, and click “Start Mobile Alerts.”
Your phone number will always remain private and you may remove it at any time. Standard messaging fees from your cellular provider may apply.
