The commercial that put Adrian Hayward on the TVC map in Australia. A Campaign Palace classic, written by the legendary Lionel Hunt and Rob Tomnay. This commercial looks a bit old and tired now, but the Django Reinhardt track I set it too seems to help it stand the test of time. It won heaps of awards and made David James a household face.
Follow up commercial to the success of the 'Keys' ad. The idea called for a cat to get soaking wet which we all thought would be a nightmare, but it turned out that Show cats are used to being pampered, washed and blow-dried. The cat in this scene is a Himalayan, who loved getting wet. What a star. Rain at Auckland Airport in the opening scene was through the help - and the hoses - of the Auckland Airport Fire Brigade.
One of a series of McDonalds commercials made for Germany, produced by Stefan Shu at e+p. We made 4 ads in Cuba, including one where we shut 4 blocks of Havana down for a night to film a Rio Carnival setting. This Ad was made at Havana Zoo - getting all the animals, extras, sets and costumes ready was a farce, delivered with good humour in German, English and Cuban Spanish. During the shoot an Ostrich settled down in front of the Agency watching their TV monitor - and laid an egg.
Kit Kat commercial that we made in New Zealand for JWT Frankfurt, for the European market. The idea featured loads of sheep who trap our two characters in the middle of nowhere. The commercial was filmed in a picturesque valley just outside Wellington - the 2000 'Sheeps' were co-ordinated by the incredible Caroline Girdlestone, 3 Farmers and 6 dogs.
