You Only Live Twice is based on the award-winning book of the same name about Gumersindo Vidot's life in the mean streets of Spanish Harlem and the South Bronx during the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Gumersindo Vidot was a Puerto Rican born American whose immigrant parents came to the States for the American Dream. Instead, they became trapped in a nightmare due to Gumersindo's hellish bout with gangs, drugs, riots, murder, racism, corruption and police brutality. This is a TRUE STORY of courage, endurance, love and hate. From those very same streets that just about consumed him also came the strength he needed to break "The Ghetto Grip" and become a champion for the youth.
While registering twenty years of sobriety, Gumersindo found purpose in his life as a motivational speaker, NRA Certified Security Instructor, Law Enforcement Security Specialist, Talk Radio Host and Retired Boxing Foundation Rep, where he became close friends with former Olympic Gold Medalist and World Boxing Champion Meldrick Taylor and British Light-Middleweight Champion and actor Gary Stretch. After being diagnosed with hepatitis c and cirrhosis of the liver, Gumersindo continued his plight for the youth until the very end on January 21, 2013. The story is not only about Gumersindo's legacy, but his continued message to the youth of today and tomorrow.
