This week’s message is a revelation by the Holy Spirit about our relationship to God and other people. In order to break loose from the past, you must first get out of the spiritual wheelchair. But Pastor John asks how is it possible to break loose when you aren't even aware that you are strapped down and spiritually handicapped? You see people every day who are bound by demons and enslaved by different things and you know that Jesus came to set them free but He also came to set you free.
It is our prayer that you will have the discernment to see if you are in a spiritual wheelchair and that you will be motivated to seek change and destroy the remaining spiritual straps which the Devil is using to hold you down. Remember, it’s not so important how you begin your life after salvation, but how you finish it! Have you made plans on how to finish your life or are you just drifting?
Confusion is the next hurdle as you try to break away from the past. King Saul battled with it in his last years and even King David faced confusion after he let corruption enter his life.
In order to stay victorious, you must not only guard the vision but guard yourself from corruption as God's blessings begin to overtake you. David was a man after God's own heart because he was willing to repent when he was shown his sin but he murdered men, women and children for their possessions and it was for this reason that he was not allowed to build the temple in Jerusalem.
You and I are not perfect, and by looking at the life of David, we will learn that repentance and a change of heart is a must if we are going to keep our victory in Jesus or confusion will set in.
The Bible states that people perish without a vision so it is important to pursue God’s vision for your life. God gave Moses the vision of removing the children of Israel from Egypt and bringing them into the Promised Land but it was up to Moses to accept and carry it out.
It is hard to maintain the vision when things don’t line up and your faith is challenged. The Israelites became cry babies and had so much unbelief that God refused to let them enter the Promised Land and instead sentenced them to wander in the wilderness for the next 40 years.
Pastor John stresses that you must find God's vision for your life and maintain it if you want to be blessed and have a great impact here on this earth. This message will cut deep into your soul and force you to examine yourself.
Coming out of the past can be very difficult because the future has many hurdles which must be overcome in order to have victory. Chances are that not everyone will be happy when you make the decision to walk away from the past. There is going to be pressure from people and the temptation will be there to compromise in order to get them off your back. Many times a person is not even aware that they are compromising until it is too late.
Society always seeks to find the middle ground, trying to get along at all costs and not offend anyone along the way but wouldn't it be a great tragedy if you worked hard to get out of the past and then got sidelined by compromise?
This is not a message that will tickle your ears, but it might mean life or death for you.
