This short film was made to illustrate something of the working process, skills transfer, community and capacity building that occurs through the SharingStories practice and production of interactive multi touch books. The first book and creation of the multi touch book template was funded by Gandel Philanthropy. SSF has now been able to make this template available to multiple other communities which will result in vibrant, dynamic and creative bilingual multi touch interpretations of important cultural stories with communities across Australia as proposed.
The SSF/Paakantji Language Lightbox Tool was made possible with the generous support of Indigenous Language Support (ILS) and the McLean Foundation. The program in this clip involved working with the Wilcannia Language and Culture Nest staff, young people and members of the broader community. Skills were transferred to enable ongoing engagement with the tool and its continued population as an audio visual dictionary to support the recording, use and maintenance of the Paakantji language. The Application will be held at the Wilcannia Language and Culture Nest for ongoing population and to support language teaching and learning. As part of current funding efforts SSF is seeking support to implement the Language Lightbox with the Bangerang, Wurundjeri, Wamba Wamba, Nyikina, Gija and Adnyamathanha communities.
