    Directed by Christophe Honoré
    2010 | France | 72 mins | RATING: R – Explicit Sexual Content

MAN AT BATH is from acclaimed French director Christophe Honoré who brought us LOVE SONGS and DANS PARIS. Real life porn star François Sagat plays Emmanuel who is dumped as his boyfriend Omar leaves France to study film in New York City. In a minimalist portrait of each man, the film then follows both as they try to move on with their lives. The result is mostly a series of sexual encounters that reveal both candid erotic desire and sexual detachment.

Filmmaker Honoré’s French New Wave influenced gay cinema filmmaking literally strips his actors bare but also digs deep into the psyche of sexual power and random anonymous sex. Rather than relying on spoken dialogue to give us insight into the real feelings of the men, we are witnesses to their open sexuality as their main form of expression. The effect is intimate, discomforting and ultimately melancholic. This is a treat for film lovers due to the intimate and unique camera work throughout the film. But for those that appreciate the nude male form, you will love how the film celebrates
Sagat’s sculpted body. Who could ask for anything more?

    Fairy Tales Presentation Society

Fairytales Presentation Society is a not-for-profit, charitable organization located in Calgary, Alberta that focuses on showcasing local and national queer artists. As our name suggests, and bylaws state; we showcase and celebrate queer artists of all artistic mediums including but not limited to film. Our artistic endeavors strive to provide a safe and respectful venue for members of all communities to celebrate queer culture. While the term queer often refers to people who are LGBTTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit and questioning), Fairytales understands queer to also include those who subscribe to culturally, politically, artistically, and otherwise alternative and innovative ways of contributing to society. We see queer as a vista, a way of looking at the world differently- with an eye towards diversity, criticality and inclusion.
