El Paso, TX: 2015 GhostLight Creative 48 Hour Film Slam!

July 12, 2015: GhostLight Creative 48 Hours Film Fest took place and winners were announced in Academy Award fashion at the El Paso Community Foundation Room.

The RULES of the contest: ghostlightevents.com/details/

Every 48 hour film that was submitted to the contest had to be shot/filmed/edited and submitted within a 48 hour time frame (keeping in mind the genre each team randomly selected & under 8 minutes) and include the line: "Don't sit too close. I splash." Also, a shot of the Southwest University clock tower (located by the baseball stadium downtown) had to be included in each film in a creative way.

Our team CJBC Productions' short comedy/dark comedy film, "The Violin" was NOMINATED under four categories:

Best Screenplay
Best Audio
Best Effects/Set Design &
WON FOR BEST COSTUME DESIGN!!

Our film also received the 3rd PLACE AWARD this year!! Not bad for this being the first year we ever participate.

Our team consisted of my sister, Cristina Castañeda, my soon to be 7 year old daughter, Ava, a former student of mine, Brandon Sigala, and two of our friends, Jennifer Lucero and Juan Carlos Garcia, and myself.

We wouldn't have been able to do this 48 hour film without each other.

If you missed the screening...

Not to worry, all films will be available on the Ghostlight Creative website later this week and all WINNING films (1st, 2nd, & 3rd place) will be screened again at the:

Plaza Classic Film Festival for FREE on Sunday, August 16th, at 3:30 p.m. at the El Paso Community Foundation Room 333 N. Oregon. (in between Anson 11 and new parking garage).

So, so HAPPY & PROUD of our team!! Can't wait to participate next year and in other film fests.

Please enjoy our film and remember to watch it all the way to the end (after credits). We would highly appreciate it if you leave us your constructive feedback, comments, etc.
