1. Three friends ride bicycles 192 miles through the California desert, from Badwater Basin to White Mt. Peak. Along the way they ascend over 24,000 vertical feet, and experience a 70 degrees shift in temperature. Before embarking the riders plan their ride carefully and leave food and water along the route in old ammunition canisters for later consumption. Unsupported from beginning to end, the riders carried small cameras and filmed themselves during the ride, capturing serendipitous moments like a dusk flyby of a group of owls and a desperate dive into a grungy bathroom to escape from the cold.

  2. Our trip was pretty simple — ride bikes to Roanoke, VA using the Virginia Mountain Bike Trail and attend the 2017 AORE National Conference.

Along the ride, the group was greeted with peak Fall foliage and amazing single track in Virginia’s Ridge & Valley region. The acclaimed sections of the Southern Traverse on Shenandoah Mountain and the Dragon’s Back of North Mountain were certainly highlights, but the stunning beauty of fall colors in central Appalachia are hard to surpass. It wasn't all campfires and rainbows on this trip. The group was dealt a variety of weather conditions as they attempted to follow the official VMTB Trail. A monster rainstorm dropped 5 inches of precipitation the first night while the group was camped along the Cowpasture River. The following daytime temperatures only reaching a high of 34 F, and it was decided to re-routed off a few ridge tops and settled into a grind down parallel valley dirt roads.

  3. Lake Iliamna, Alaska's largest lake, is home to many native communities, the worlds’ largest sockeye salmon run, potential site of the controversial Pebble Mine, and the elusive Lake Monster - Illie. On a hot mid-July morning, Bjørn and Brent were deposited to the far shore of Cook Inlet in a landing craft cargo ship and began their human-powered journey through Iliamna country to Bristol Bay; hoping to catch a glimpse of the illusive creature and slice of Alaska where monsters can still roam free.

  4. All filmed using the GoPro HERO camera.

At the end of October life was getting a little bit hectic so we made a last minute decision to recharge our internal batteries with a short wilderness trip to Sweden. We hired a canoe and made the most of being outside.

During our 5 days camping we got to paddle, chop wood, make fires and toast marshmellows so now my soul has definitely been recharged with a warm smokey glow.
